Single-wagon rail transport replaces 20 trucks per train

Rail Cargo Hungaria (RCH) has shifted steel raw material imports from road to rail for a steel works in Ózd (Hungary). The plant imports 250-300 t of steel wire per train from Ukraine. The material arrives on broad-gauge trains in Fényeslitke (Hungary), where it was previously loaded onto trucks and delivered to Ózd, 180 km away, by road.

 

To shift the transport to the railways RCH created a special single-wagonload system, as the wagons arrive in Hungary on Ukrainian wide-gauge trains and have to be transloaded to domestic standard-gauge wagons for their further journey. Read more
