The Australian government has approved six projects for new rest stops. They form a part of the fourth tranche of the AUD 140 million (around EUR 84 million) heavy vehicle rest area initiative to improve road safety for heavy vehicle drivers.
Projects funded through tranche four include the construction of new rest areas and the upgrade of existing truck stops. These rest stops will help truckies manage their fatigue, the government said. Fatigue is one of the top three behavioural factors causing accidents of heavy trucks involved in serious crashes. Read more
