InPost announces acquisition of Menzies Express and Newstrade logistics operations

In an announcement on 15 October 2024, logistics company InPost Group – perhaps best known as a parcel locker service provider – confirmed that it acquired the remaining 70% of Menzies Distribution for £60.4 million, giving it 100% control over Menzies’ Express and Newstrade operations.

InPost orginally acquired a 30% take in Menzies Distribution in 2023, for £49.3m.

It explained that Menzies Distribution Services (MDS), responsible for full load transport services and warehousing, was ‘demerged from Menzies and is not the part of the transaction’, noting that MDS will continue to be run by its existing management team – Endless – while InPost will retain a 30% shareholding in MDS.

InPost noted that this acquisition builds on the ‘strong commercial growth’ that InPost has shown in the UK, having tripled its revenue to PLN 412 million (c. £80m) in H1 2024 year-on-year.

During the same span of time, InPost recorded a 156% increase in UK parcel volume.

Rafał Brzoska, CEO of InPost Group, said: “With this strategic acquisition, InPost fully insources logistics in the UK. With Menzies fully integrated, we are even better positioned to create an exceptional offering in terms of quality, price and convenience for both merchants and consumers. Read more
