GXO partners with robot manufacturer to test humanoid warehouse robots

The partnership between Apptronik, a robot manufacturer, and GXO Logistics, a contract logistics provider, will see the introduction of the humanoid robot Apollo into warehouse environments. This collaboration aims to tailor the prototypes of humanoid robots to meet the evolving needs of the logistics sector.

According to GXO, the introduction of Apollo into distribution centers has the potential to add value by reducing repetitive work, improving safety, and allowing associates to focus on higher-value activities. Apollo, developed by Apptronik, stands 5'8" tall and can carry up to 55lbs. It operates on swappable batteries for maximum uptime and is powered by linear actuators designed to mimic human muscle mechanics, enabling a full range of mobility.

This initiative is part of GXO's strategy to advance the development of humanoid robots in the logistics sector. As a pure-play contract logistics provider, GXO is keen to explore the application of robotics to enhance efficiency and productivity in warehouse operations. Read more
