Swiss funds for Italian terminal

A transhipment facility for combined transport is to be built in Domodossola, Northern Italy to upgrade the Lötschberg-Simplon axis for transalpine railfreight traffic. Switzerland is contributing CHF 38.8 million to the total construction costs of CHF 67.1 million.

The facility in Domodossola will have two tracks, each 700 m long, for loading containers and craneable and non-craneable semi-trailers. Operated by a subsidiary of Cargo Beamer, the terminal is to handle a total of 185,000 truck loads annually. Read more
