More trucks on German motorways

On Germany’s federal motorways, the mileage of trucks with at least four axles that are subject to tolls increased by 1.6 % in May 2023 compared to April 2023, adjusted for calendar and seasonal effects.

According to the Federal Office for Logistics and Mobility and the Federal Statistical Office, the calendar-adjusted HGV toll mileage index was 1.2 % lower than in May 2022. HGV mileage on motorways provides early indications of economic trends in the industry and gives a rough approximation of the development of industrial production. Read more
