IRU presented strategies to enhance the efficiency and security of cross-border trade.
Optimising road transport could unlock major benefits for Brazil’s transport and logistics industry, reducing costs and improving trade flows.
In a recent meeting with the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT), Brazil’s regulatory agency responsible for enforcing land transport operation policies, IRU presented strategies to enhance the efficiency and security of cross-border trade.
ANTT General Director Guilherme Theo Sampaio said, “We are excited about the partnership possibilities that we can establish, with the goal of efficient and borderless transport. Our aim is to cut red tape, reduce costs and enhance efficiency.”
Both organisations emphasised the importance of public-private partnerships and the exchange of best practices as key drivers of seamless and efficient trade.
IRU Senior Legal Adviser for TIR & Transit Services Ana Luiza Taliberti said, “With the TIR system, Brazil can significantly improve the efficiency and security of trade with its neighbouring countries and beyond. This is precisely what TIR, which is the UN’s longest-running public-private partnership, has been doing for over 75 years in Europe and Asia.” Read more
