Cosco Shipping has officially commenced operations at Chancay Peru Terminal, its first green and smart port investment in South America. Situated 78 km north of Lima, this advanced deep-water port features four berths, including two berths for containers, and can handle 1 million teu, 6 million t of bulk cargo, and 160,000 vehicles annually.
The port integrates innovative technologies such as electric container trucks, reducing energy consumption by over 25%. It is connected to the Pan-American Highway via a 1.8 km tunnel.
The Chancay Port Project Phase I has generated over 8,000 jobs and established wildlife rescue centres to rehabilitate local fauna and enhance natural habitats. Read more
