RHA visits truck stops to hear from drivers

The RHA has continued in its series of visits to truck stops across the UK with a visit to Watling Street Truck Stop in Hertfordshire.

 

We spoke to a large number of drivers to understand their views on facilities with head of public affairs, Declan Pang, and area manager Linda White (pictured) being on site to discuss the issues.

 

It comes as we campaign hard to press the government to improve truck stops and driver facilities across the country.

 

Key priorities

 

Increasing the number of lorry and coach parking spaces and improving the standard of facilities at truck stops and service stations are key priorities for the RHA.

The RHA has launched a petition calling on the Government to work with the industry towards better facilities, cut planning red tape, and increase funding – and urges everyone in the industry to sign it.

 

Parking space

 

Watling Street illustrated the need for more new facilities as there is a shortfall of 11,000 spaces across the UK. The truck stop was full by 5.30pm – and we witnessed trucks arriving and leaving due to lack of space. Read more
