Funding for alternative drives in rail transport

EUR 141 million are available for the approval of applications for 2022.

CO2-neutral technologies are also needed for the railways if the transport sector wants to achieve its climate protection goals as planned. In Germany, the application procedure for subsidies for climate-friendly drive systems in rail transport runs until 31 August 2022.

EUR 141 million are available for the approval of applications for 2022. Support will be provided for the switch from diesel locomotives to clean vehicles with batteries and fuel cells on non-electrified line sections and the use of innovative hybrid locomotives in freight transport. Read more
