Trucks on trucks: TIR goes from strength to strength in China

For the first time, a Chinese-operated TIR truck has exported finished Chinese goods. The cargo transported? Trucks!


A TIR truck has transported two semi-trailers produced by the China National Heavy Duty Truck Group, each weighing 7,300kg. Until now, Chinese TIR hauliers had only exported semi-finished goods.

 

The TIR truck set off after completing its export and TIR procedures in the central Chinese city of Zhengzhou. The operation was conducted by a Chinese TIR operator, using a Chinese vehicle and TIR carnet for the whole journey.

 

Heavy trucks are typically transported by sea or a combination of road and sea. TIR trucks cut transport times of such movements by up to 70% compared with sea, and 60% compared with road and sea combination. Read more
