Swiss railways and intelligent freight cars

The Swiss state-owned rail company SBB is investing in the further digitalisation of its railfreight activities, by adding electronic sensors to the wagons operated by its freight arm SBB Cargo. The equipment monitors the wagons' temperatures, vibrations and position on a permanent basis.

 

"This will enable our transport customers to receive continuous stream of information concerning the state of their goods, where they are and the likelihood of their arriving on time," according to the railway firm. Read more
