Amazon has announced the launch of ‘Supply Chain by Amazon’, which it describes as ‘an end-to-end, fully-automated set of supply chain services that provides sellers with a complete solution to quickly and reliably move products directly from their manufacturers to customers around the world’.

The fully-managed service is now available to its sellers, with Amazon saying that ‘sellers can leverage Amazon’s advanced logistics, warehousing, distribution, fulfilment and transportation to move products from factories to customers faster than ever before, reducing shipping times and saving sellers time, effort and money’.

According to Amazon, sellers ‘simply provide product details and pick-up locations and Amazon oversees the rest, including carrier pickup, inventory consolidation, strategic replenishment and placement into fulfilment centres nearest to customers, and continuous analytically-driven optimisation based on demand, inventory levels and costs’.

The company notes that ‘hundreds of thousands of sellers already use at least one of these Supply Chain by Amazon services’, and claims that adoption of multiple services tripled in the first half of 2024.

Amazon moved more than 20,000 containers globally in August 2024 and offers domestic logistics services in 19 countries. In the US alone, Amazon says, US sellers have used its domestic logistics services to send 2 billion product units into Amazon’s fulfilment network in the past year.

It adds that in 2024, the company is expecting to triple its Amazon Warehousing and Distribution (AWD) capacity in the US in order to ‘support explosive growth in seller demand’. Read more
