Dear Colleagues and Friends,

In a time now long gone, the island that plays host to our 2015 FIATA World Congress was called Ilhe Formosa, which means beautiful island. Indeed, Chinese Taipei is a land of immense beauty and culture as well as a significant commercial centre. Situated in the middle of Asia –Pacific, it is at the heart of the most important region for international trade. Being a crucial global hub for transport and logistics it makes sense that freight forwarders, who are the facilitators of this international trade, would gather in Taipei for one of the most important meetings in the world for our shared industry.
 
FIATA is truly an international organisation representing the interests of all freight forwarders and logistics providers around the globe. Furthermore, our Federation is dedicated to promoting all modalities of transport. It is the aim of FIATA to advance our industry, in particular, the area I am most proud of our efforts is vocational training. Through our programmes in over 70 countries around the world we endeavour to build up a “portable knowledge” to improve professionalism and reciprocal understanding between freight forwarders in all parts of the world.
 
This is only the tip of the iceberg for FIATA. During the World Congress 2015 you can look forward to learning about the activities and programmes we have underway as well as what is to come. All the while listening to top level speakers and engaging in discussions of the most pertinent topics affecting our industry.
 
It is my express honour as the FIATA President to invite all of you to the FIATA World Congress 2015 and I greatly look forward to welcoming you all in beautiful Taipei!
